DESCRIPTION: Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1677-1750) was an astronomer and cartographer, as well as a professor of mathematics. He often worked with the Homann heirs. Together, they produced a number of atlases including "Atlas Novus Coelestis" and "Selenographica." His charts are well engraved and highly decorative. Nicely framed in a reproduction 18th century black and gold receding molding, acid free backing and glazed with ultra-violet protective Plexiglas.
