  • DESCRIPTION: This impressive engraving is a wonderful example of Chatelain’s elegant plates. Included in the 1720 edition of Atlas Historique, published by Chatelain in Amsterdam, this large chart is the twenty-fifth plate in volume two. This handsome plate is comprised of numerous small vignettes depicting the coronation of the Emperor, as well as two views showing the Imperial University and the College of the Princes. The sheet is filled with a long explanative text as well as a detailed tabular key identifying the various people depicted in the images. This fine print is a wonderful example from Chatelain’s important text.
