  • DESCRIPTION: A beautiful map from Blaeu's "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, Sive Atlas Novis." A beautiful map of eastern Brazil oriented with north to the right of the chart. This is Blaeu's second map of Brazil. The first being a plate that he acquired from Jodocus Hondius. Blaeu made this plate upgrading the cartography, especially on the interior.The map is embellished with title and scale cartouches, two compass roses and three sailing ships.

  • CONDITION: Good condition save for repaired tears in the margins, one just breaking the neat line in the lower margin. Backed on rice paper. Original hand coloring.
