  • DESCRIPTION: Isabel Bishop, folio portfolio containing 8 etchings in a clam shell box, gray cloth with gold lettering on cover and spine, signed and numbered 9/50 in pencil, each with a tissue guard in its own folder. The colophon is also signed in pencil and numbered 9/50. <BR><BR> From the colophon:<BR> “The eight etchings in this portfolio were created by Isabel Bishop from 1930 to 1959. Until this printing, only proofs of these images were ever printed. <BR><BR> This printing was done on Rives Heavyweight paper by Stephen Sholinsky of Stem Graphics, New York, from July through September 1984. The signing was done by the artist in October and November 1984. <BR><BR> The Total noumber of impressions pulled from each plate is 60. <BR><BR> Of the regular edition of 50, the first forty are numbered 1/50 through 40/50, and are available as suites. Impressions 41/50 through 50/50 are available individually. <BR><BR> Seven artist’s proofs suites are numbered I/VII through VII/VII. <BR><BR> One suite, annotated ‘Whitney proof’, is in the Collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art. <BR><BR> There is one ‘bon a tirer’ suite and one ‘printer’s proof’ suite. <BR><BR> The copper plates have been cancelled, and a “cancellation proof’ has been pulled from each plate.” <BR><BR>
