The twenty-volume series recorded the various Native American cultures spread across the country, although it also contained Euro-American biases which were typical of the time. Each of the descriptive volume were accompanied by a portfolio of large photogravure plates.<br><br> Yawelmani (misspelled Yauelmani by Curtis) is one of three dialect spoken by the Yokutis people in San Joaquin Valley, California. Specifically, it is spoken by the Southern Valley Yokuts.
