DESCRIPTION: A small and well engraved map of Fort Risban which guards the entrance of coastal town of Calais, France. Gabriel Bodenehr the Elder (c. 1664-1758) was a Swiss artist who worked in Augsburg. He created many topographical views and plans of European and North African cities. Many were gathered under the overall title Le Gloire et la Force de l'Europe.
