Louis Novak

Louis Novak (1903-1983) was a Hungarian-American artist, or Czech-American as some refer to him. The region his family was from became part of Czechoslovakia after World War I. His family immigrated to the United States when he was a young child, where they settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts after living briefly in New York City. He studied at the Massachusetts School of Art in Boston, where he earned a degree in education, and the Museum of Fine Art School. Novak later became an instructor of architectural drawing at the Wentworth Institute in Boston. Novak’s works were exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1927, the Library of Congress in 1943 and 1946, the National Academy of Design in 1943, Jordan Marsh of Boston in 1946, and the Cambridge Art Association in 1952. He was a member of the Cambridge Art Association, Prairie Printmakers, and the Watertown (MA) Arts Association.
