  • DESCRIPTION: Rufus King (1755-1827) was a highly-regarded politician and orator. A graduate of Harvard, King studied law and eventually gained a seat in Congress in 1784. King later went on to a career in the Senate until 1825 when he was appointed by President Adams the minister plenipotentiary at the court of London. He fell ill during his journey abroad and died shortly thereafter in April of 1827.
