  • DESCRIPTION: 3 Volumes, 344; 356, and 347 pages, 8 plates mostly aquatint (1 folded map, small octavo, hardcover, half leather w/marbled boards, gilt-stamped spines. <BR><BR> This exhibition traveled from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, navigating the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, then up the Missouri River to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Throughout the trip, they documented the geography and indigenous populations of the region. Thomas Say, the renowned naturalist studied and wrote about the flora and fauna along the route. This survey is considered a significant source of early exploration of the American West.
