Signed and dated lower left "Fred. S. Cozzens 08." This scene shows the Knickerbocker Yacht Club regatta fleet under sail off of Sandy Hook Light.
The Knickerbocker Yacht Club was founded in 1874 on the Harlem River in Manhattans. In 1907, the club moved to Port Washington and was the second-oldest yacht club on the Long Island Sound. After 135 years in operation, the club closed it's doors in 2009.
