Publisher : Published by Johnson & Browning, 172 William St. New York. A fine separately issued pocket map of Virginia show just before the Civil War. The plate for this map also appeared in "Colton's General Atlas” and first issued in 1855” In 1859, A.J. Johnson & Browning purchased the rights to published Colton’s atlas, then sold the rights back to Colton in 1860. Separately issued pocket maps, especially those published by Johnson & Browning are rarely seen. In the upper right are two inset maps, "Richmond, Henrico County. Manchester and Springhill, Chesterfield Co." and "Norfolk, Portsmouth and Gosport." Scarce.Retains original gold embossed covers. 6/15/12 to conservator to remove case. Maps , Pocket map
