Lucas Van Leyden (1494-1533) is regarded as one of the most important engravers of his time. He was also an accomplished genre painter. Lucas learned etching from Durer around 1521 and was one of the early users of aerial perspective in prints. Some of his acclaimed works include "The Poet Virgil Suspended in a Basket" (1521), "The Chess Players" (c.1508).
