DESCRIPTION: A scarce map of Western Territory and the Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States shown at the end of the18th Century. The map shows an area from New York eastward to the Illinois & Wabash Rivers, Lake Michigan and the confluence of the Ohio and Cumberland Rivers. Kentucky is shown only two years after becoming the 15th state. A number of early towns in Kentucky are named. They include Lexington, Louisville, Boonsborough, Frankfort, Lincoln and Clarkesville. Fort Detroit is shown. This map appeared in Thomas Cooper’s “Some Information Respecting America, Collected by Thomas Cooper, Late of Manchester”, in which Cooper compiled information for English considering immigration to the United States.
