Elias Boudinot (1740-1821) was an established statesman and lawyer from New Jersey who served as the President of the Continental Congress. Born in 1740, Boudinot lived a politically active life. After the American Revolution, Boudinot represented New Jersey in the U.S. Congress. Shortly following his service as a congressman, George Washington appointed him as Director of the United States Mint in 1795. Boudinot served as Director from 1795 until 1805.
