DESCRIPTION: A scarce early edition of Cram's map of the Dakota Territory. The Northern Pacific Railroad is shown ending at Bismark. George F. Cram (1842–1928) began working with his uncle, Rufus Blanchard, in 1867 under the name Blanchard & Cram. In 1869 Cram took control and moved to Chicago, opening the Western Map Depot at 148 Lake Street. The Great Fire destroyed the business. He re-established himself at 66 Lake Street.
