  • DESCRIPTION: On verso inscribed in four corners "228/11" and inscribed on verso "Wood block print Tulips 228/11 Blanche Lazzell Provincetown Mass Oct 10, 1928." Blanche Lazzell used a different number pattern. 228 refers to all white-line color prints she had printed to the date of this impression, 11 is the number times she had printed this exact block.

  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Signed, titled, and dated in pencil. Inscribed "cut 1920." This impression used in "A Spectrum of Innovation Color in American Printmaking 1890-1960" by David Acton p. 82.

  • CONDITION: Good condition with brilliant original color. Several minor skinning spots on verso, toning visible on verso and two horizontal creases in the outer margins. Creasing is typical in Lazzell white-line woodcuts as this is how she printed the image. Wide margins.
