Bowen. <br><br> The Great Fire of 1835 came in conjunction with an economic boom created by the opening of the Erie Canal. Hundreds of buildings were destroyed in the blaze because the city's main water sources were the rivers, which were frozen over at the time. <br><br> There is a number key just under the printed image - we have been able to identify most of the noted people. 1.
