• DESCRIPTION: Signed in pencil.<br><br> This wood engraving was made as a Christmas card. There is no personalized message written inside. Printed on the back is information about the wood engraving and a brief greeting - " 'twas never such a gathering of beats' : From the Heritage Press Edition of J. W. Goethe's : Reynard the Fox printed from the original wood block for the friends of the Eichenbergs with all good wishes for a much happier 1962." The block was originally produced for Eichenberg's illustrated version of the medieval story "Reynard the Fox", published in 1954 by Heritage Press Edition. All of the wood engravings produced for the book were unsigned, but Eichenberg did created a limited edition run of individual wood engravings, which were sold individually around the same time of the book's publication.
