  • EDITION SIZE: Two sheets joined. Image size 23 1/4 x 35 3/4" (59 x 90.7 cm) plus margins.

  • DESCRIPTION: A fine large map of the world on Mercator's projection. Mortier originally issued this map in 1693 and appeared in his monumental atlas "Le Neptune Francois". The map was updated in c.1700, the Hudson's Bay area has been redrawn and now shows three large islands and a sea channel or "Mer Glaciale" now connects Hudson's Bay to the Pacific through the Strait of Anian. California is shown as an Island and Australia and New Zealand are only partially delineated.
