  • DESCRIPTION: From "Traite general de Viticulture" by Pierre Viala and Victor Vermorel. Lithographed by F. Champenois, Paris, after illustrations by Alexis Kreyder and Jules Troncy. The series was published in seven volumes and covers a large variety of grapes grown around the world.<br><br> Historically, President was used to make white wine for the French peasantry, and was grown primarily in the central and northern regions of the country. Today it is perhaps best known for the wine grapes that descended from it, one variety of which is Chardonnay.
