DESCRIPTION: The Battle of Molino del Ray was fought on September 8, 1847. It's regarded as one of the bloodiest battles of the Mexican-American War, with the U.S. losing 800 men. The blow was made worse by the fact that rumors of a cannon foundry were incorrect, as it had been the very reason they had pressed forward.
