  • DESCRIPTION: This drawing was used to illustrate "The Life and Adventures of John Nicol, Mariner" published in 1936. <br><br> This scene depicts the impressment of the crew while in China. The main character ultimately is forced onto the "Venerable", commanded by Captain Hope, flagship of Admiral Duncan's fleet.

  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Initialed in ink. Inscribed "Chap XII" in the lower left margin.

  • CONDITION: Condition: Overall good condition, has has light discoloration and some blue colored staining.

  • REFERENCE:
