Royal American Magazine opposite page 407 for the November 1774 issue.<br><br> The Royal American Magazine, or Universal Repository of Instruction and Amusement (January 1774 – March 1775) was a short-lived monthly periodical published in Boston, Massachusetts by Isaiah Thomas and later by Joseph Greenleaf. <br><br> The first six numbers were published by patriot-printer Isaiah Thomas. Thomas conceived the idea of the magazine in the summer of 1773. The magazine is peppered with strong anti-British sentiments, including attacks on the Boston Port Bill and British occupation of Boston. Thomas's inflammatory articles caused him to flee Boston for Worcester, turning responsibility of publishing the magazine over to Joseph Greenleaf, who continued it until its end.<br><br> A rare imprint.
