This version has the Statue of Liberty put in place upon its pedestal on Liberty Island.

The Statue of Liberty was created by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, a French sculptor, and built by Gustave Eiffel. It was a gift to the United States for its centennial in 1876 - the arrangement being the French would pay for the sculpture and the Americans would build the pedestal. However, funding for this massive project proved difficult on both sides of the Atlantic. Parts of the sculpture were displayed at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. In the United States, the publisher, Joseph Pulitzer of the "New York World" made a big push to raise money for the construction of the pedestal. With his assistance over 100,000 donations were made and the pedestal project moved forward. The statue was finished in France in 1884 and the pedestal was completed in April 1886. The statue was installed and President Grover Cleveland dedicated it on October 28, 1886.
