  • DESCRIPTION: The location of this piece is Madison Square Park located between 23rd and 26th and Fifth Avenue/Broadway and Madison Avenue. The viewer is looking east through the park. The low domed structure (central) is the Madison Square Presbyterian Church designed by Stanford White and built in 1906. This church was razed in 1919 making way for a new annex building to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Tower (the base of this building can be seen to the right of the domed church). <BR><BR> McCarron lists two states. This impression is the first state. Only the second impression of the first state located. <BR><BR> McCarron notes recorded impressions none. Total of known impressions to date six, two known impressions of the first state and four of the second state. <br><br>

  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Signed in pencil with a beautiful early signature. Includes a stunning study drawing of this rare etching. The drawing is titled in the artist's hand "Madison Square 1915" Inscribed with artist's name and initialed "P.L." (Patricia Lewis the artist's daughter-in-law). Stamped on verso "Collection Lucille Deming Lewis" and numbered "LDL-691" an estate inventory designation.

  • CONDITION: Print is in very good condition, a stunning impression. The drawing was at one time removed from a sketch book and outer corners are rounded. However, the drawing itself is in very good condition.
