DESCRIPTION: Hamlin Sc. <br><br> The engraver, William Hamlin (1772-1869), was born and buried in Providence R.I. Hamlin started out life as a manufacturer and repairman of nautical instruments. Engraving was part of the trade at that time, and curiosity drew him to the realm of printmaking.
