The door shown is the holy portal in Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. It is open only when the feast day of the Apostle St. James falls on a Sunday. That happens next on July 25, 2021.

The Camino de Santiago known in English as the "Way of St. James" was declared by Pope Alexander VI in the fifteenth century one of the "Three great pilgrimages of Christendom." The others are Jerusalem and Rome. The route runs through the Pyrenees Mountains and ends at the shrine of the Apostle St . James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela on the northern coast of Spain. This pilgrimage attracts more than 200,000 people a year and includes routes that reach into France as a starting point.

Sir Muirhead Bone (1876-1953) was a Scottish artist known for his depictions of industrial and architectural subjects and his work as a war artist in World War I and World War II. His skill as a draftsman is evident in this spectacular drawing. He was knighted in 1937.
