This map first appeared in Anthony Findley's New American Atlas issued in 1826. It is one of the earliest separately issued regional maps to show Arkansas in its double-width configuration (including most of Oklahoma).

The western part of double wide configuration notes "Territory Attached to Arkansas". names the early Indian Nations of the Choctaws, Creek, Cherokees, Osages, Kickapoos, Delawares, Shawnees, Piankashaws, Pawnees etc.

Many Indian settlements and missionary settlements are noted. One new addition on the map is that is notes Texas, which at the time was a separate Republic. One unusual feature on the map is an area in north eastern Arkansas, just below the town of Little Prairie to just above the town of Franklin. that have been colored brown, with some manuscript gridwork and each corner of the area lettered, a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h.

On the inside front cove is an applied label giving the population in Missouri and Arkansas by county. On top of that is a small applied label "Sold by Fielding Lucas, Jr. 138 Market Street, Baltimore".
