A detailed map from "Atlas of Long Island, New York. From recent and actual surveys and records." Many land owners names are given. It depicts the town of Flatbush, which was settled in 1652 as one of the six original Brooklyn towns. The name is derived from the Dutch 'vlackebos', which means 'wooded plain.' This neighborhood was also the home of Ebbets Field, where the Dodgers played from 1915 to 1957. Prospect Park is a main feature of the map. Maps
