Engraved by Langlois.<br><br> Pierre-Joseph Redoute (1759 – 1840). Painter and botanist from Belgium. Best remembered for his watercolors of roses, lilies and other flowers. Many of were published as large, color printed engravings. He was nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers" and is often referred to as the greatest botanical illustrator of all time.
