  • DESCRIPTION: Frederic Cozzens was one of America's greatest marine artists being thoroughly acquainted with every aspect of ship construction and the art of sailing. He is best known for his paintings of great American yachts of the latter half of the 19th century, which were commissioned by many of New York's leading yachtsmen. In 1884, he expanded his audience by making a series of lithographs of his paintings. <BR><BR> The Old Print Shop currently has the full set of 25 chromolithographs published in 1886 by Charles Schribner’s Sons. From the standard edition, these prints have been removed from the original ‘acid’ mounts and placed on an archival board. The original title labels are attached to the verso of each frame. <BR><BR> This series is framed in 1-inch gold metal leaf with a central 3/8 inch walnut veneer panel. 3 line archival mat and backing. In the central section of the lower mat is the title and artist name written up in calligraphy.
