DESCRIPTION: This decorative map by Le Rouge shows North and South America, with the discoveries of Charlevoix and Condamine added in Canada and the Amazon. It is the first map to show Behring's discoveries along in Alaska and the Northwest Coast and a prototype map for the subsequent Buache, De L'Ise, Jefferys maps of the 1750s.<br><br>
ADDITIONAL INFO: An unusual variant with the applied label on the lower section of the cartouche "A Paris Chez Le Rouge Rue des Grs. Augustin 1777."
CONDITION: Good condition, original outline color. Several small worm holes along lower centerfold.
