DESCRIPTION: Plate 130 from the ATLAS OF LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK. The engraved illustrations in the top right corner are of a "View of Metropolitan Tabernacle" and of "Sea Cliff Summer Home for the Aged and Infirm Members of the Methodist Episcopal Church of New York City". In 1871 the Metropolitan Camp Ground Association of the Methodist Church bought land and converted it into a huge meeting site. Church members came from New York City in steamboats and railroad to spend a few weeks in the summer months.
