• DESCRIPTION: Designed Drawn and Engraved by W.E. Marshall. Likely a working proof that was later used by the Appleton firm. The NYPL has a published, titled version that looks to have been reproduced via a photo-gravure process. They note a publishing date of 1899-1950. This "proof" impression is likely the "egg" before the chicken.
