  • DESCRIPTION: A handsome geographical and some what pictorial map of the island of Saint Helena drawn while hosting it's most famous resident, Napoleon Buonaparte.<br><br> Drawn by a Lieutenant R.P. Read, of whom little is knows. The map identifies many homes and farms along with the owners names. Even "Longwood, the residence of Buonaparte" is identified.<br><br> In the lower right are facsimile signatures of Napoleon. When first Counsel simply "Buonaparte". When Emperor, "Napoleon".<br><br> On verso is a applied descriptive label "A descriptive Sketch of Saint Helena. to Accompany Lieut. Read's Geographical Plan of the Island."<br><br> Engraved by R. Kirkwood.

  • ADDITIONAL INFO: Retains original slipcase with applied title "Plan of St. Helena by Lieut. Read Price 6/." On verso of case is an applied picture depicting Napoleon bivouacked by a tree.
