DESCRIPTION: A fine map of the state from a early edition of Mitchell's, "A New Universal Atlas containing maps of the various Empires, Kingdoms, States and Republics of the World". Mitchell is one of the first truly successful commercial cartographers in the U.S. There is a large, detailed inset of the city of Baltimore. A distance chart for various steamboat routes from Baltimore is included.
