DESCRIPTION: Published in "American Scenery: Or, Land, Lake and River Illustrations of Transatlantic Nature." <br><br> This view is likely of an inn or residence in the town of Owego, NY. The town rests along the Susquehanna River in the south-western part of the state, and the Owego Creek run right through it. <br><br> LeRoy Wilson Kingsman discusses the spelling variants of the town in his book "Owego. Some account of the early settlement of the village in Tioga County, N.Y., called Ah-wa-ga by the Indians, which name was corrupted by gradual evolution into Owago, Owego, Owegy and finally Owego." The book was published in 1907.
