  • DESCRIPTION: Painted by Henry Sandham. Copyright 1896 by Boussod Valadon & Co. One of the greatest baseball images prior to 1900. The game is being played at the second Polo Grounds located between 155-157 Streets and Eighth Avenue. In the distance the High Bridge can be seen, as well as a Westchester bound steam locomotive. Represented is the 1894 “Temple Cup” between the New York Giants and Baltimore Orioles, won 16 to 3 by New York which took the series in four straight games.
