• DESCRIPTION: Pyramid Lake, once in the territory of Utah, now lies in the state of Nevada. It is an endorheic lake, which means its waters do not flow to an ocean or sea. As such, it's salinity levels are higher than the average lake. It is home to the endangered cui-ui fish, which was once an important food source for the Paiute Tribe.

This engraving depicts settlers conversing with a group of Native Americans by their teepees. As the picture shows, the lake was named after the pyramid-shaped rock formation rising out of the water.
