DESCRIPTION: This impressive engraving is a wonderful example of Chatelain’s elegant plates. Included in the 1720 edition of Atlas Historique, published by Chatelain in Amsterdam, this large chart is the twenty-seventh plate in volume two. This handsome plate is comprised of numerous vignettes depicting the Teutonic Order government in session. The sheet is filled with a long explanative text, as well as a detailed tabular key identifying the various people depicting in the images. This fine print is a wonderful example from Chatelain’s important text.
