DESCRIPTION: Aquatint engraving by Martens after Karl Bodmer. Vignette 1, from the atlas to the journal of Prince Maximilian of Wied, "Reise in das Innere Nord-America in den Jahren 1832 bis 1834," ("Travels in the Interior of North America"), 1839-41. This lovely Boston harbor scene was painted by Bodmer as their party arrived to begin their famous overland trek into the American West. <br><br>This impression is a true 1st stated with English title only. Only 100 examples were printed before being updated with the addition of German and French titles.
