Titled and dated in pencil on lower right. Inscribed " Notes- A great deal of texture in city walls. Church is all built of stone, except brick shown in upper part of large tower to extreme left, Beginning with old building that I inserted in centre of plate, it and all buildings to right of it and in same line with it are white stucco. This does not apply, of course, to any of the church. Stone joints in middle distance wall (to left of foreground turret) should slope with batler of wall. Light over left shouler , as in the photos." This drawing came directly from the Estate of John Taylor Arms. Being transfer drawings means these drawings were used to create the copper plate that printed the etching. As any object that is used in this fashion, they often have a variety of condition issues. They are, however, unique works created by the artist. 20th Century Subjects, Drawings And Watercolors, Foreign Views
