DESCRIPTION: Ortelius is the best known for producing the atlas from which this map comes from, "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, or “Atlas of the Whole World". The atlas was immensely popular and was produced for over forty years. This map of France is based on ancient information from Caesar's "De Bello Gallico." On the back of the map is a description of the region.
