  • DESCRIPTION: Engraved by R[alph] Rawdon. Title continues "and his Gallant followers." <BR> A dramatic and extremely rare image of the October 1813 “Battle of the Thames.” In this major encounter fifty miles east of Detroit along the Thames River, an American force under William Henry Harrison demolished an outnumbered force of British regulars and allied Indians. Shawnee leader, Tecumseh, fell in the battle, and his death marked the end of allied Indian power in the Old Northwest. The victory helped vault Harrison to national fame and ultimately the presidency.
