Hall's Sons, New York. <br><br> After serving skillfully in the House of Representatives and presiding over the Senate as Zachary Taylor's vice president, Fillmore became president on July 9, 1950, when Taylor died. Fillmore lost the Whig nomination in 1852, then ran as the Know-Nothing candidate in 1856. He was never elected president. <br><br> About the publisher: Henry Bryan Hall (1808 - 1884) moved to New York in 1850, where he founded the firm H. B. Hall and Sons. He created works featuring important American figures, especially from the colonial and Revolutionary periods. Four of his children became accomplished engravers themselves.
