DESCRIPTION: The Clipper Ship Challenge was built in New York by William H. Webb and launched in May 1851. These ships were often called the Gold Rush Clippers as they were built to bring back gold from San Francisco. The Challenge was an extreme clipper measuring 227 feet in length, 42 feet in beam and 2006 tons. She set a number of speed records during the course of its working life. The ship was lost in 1877.

CONDITION: Overall in good condition and original color. Toning and some spotting, the print has never been cleaned and is a nice impression.
