Constructed of Bedford limestone, the station was the largest in the world in area and served the most trains, according to an accompanying illustrated booklet by Benjamin A. Atwater. It was decorated with turrets and a massive tower, and approached via several stepped terraces placed over a porte-cochere for carriages. Today the station has found new life as a vibrant shopping center
