Hans Kleiber

1887-1967

Painter, etcher, illustrator and naturalist, Han Kleiber was born in Cologne, Germany on August 24, 1887.  He came to the United States with his family in 1900, eventually settling in Wyoming, where he would work for the United States Forest Service. As an artist, Kleiber is largely self-taught.  His art is renowned for the wildlife and landscapes he so loved.  His works can be found in many museums including the Library of Congress, State Library Of California and University Of Wyoming. He is listed in the1931 "American Art Annual" for having won a silver medal for etching.
