Henry Ziegler

1889-1968

Henry Ziegler was an American painter and printmaker, born in Sherman, Texas. He studied under Joseph Pennell at the Art Students League in New York.  He produced a remarkable body of etching, drypoints and aquatints throughout his long career.  There is sparse biographical information on the artist however. He produced a wonderful body of cowboy incidents, a nice group of New York City images and did one of the great aquatints of Lindbergh plane “Spirit of St. Louis.”  His work can be found in many museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Library of Congress.
