Ivan Albright

Ivan Le Loraine Albright – Painter and Printmaker - was born on February 20, 1897 in North Harvey, Illinois.  His father, Adam Emory Albright, was a noted painter and his identical twin brother, Malvin Marr Albright (Zsissly), was also an artist.  Ivan Albright served as a medical illustrator during WWI, drawing the horrific injuries during the war.  When he returned to Chicago he enrolled at the Art Institute of Chicago art school, then studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and finally at the National Academy.  He developed a unique style often called Magic Realism.
